Ready made spinnakers

ROLLY TASKER ‘READY MADE’ – AN INDUSTRY INNOVATION

Rolly Tasker has launched a range of pre-fabricated ‘ready made sails’ which offer exceptional value for money compared to one-design sails.

While fast turn-around time from order to delivery is guaranteed, the major benefit is that there is a significant cost saving to the boat owner as being ‘stock sails’ with standard dimensions and finish, they only have to be designed once, materials can be pre-ordered in large volume and they can be made at a time when the sail loft is under low demand.

ALAVIABLE SIZES

Rolly Tasker Sails ready-made Spinnakers are available in many different sizes to suit most yachts and catamarans from 6 to 18 metres (20’ to 60’) and include –

 ·      Symmetrical Spinnakers (20 sizes - 41m2 to 316m2 in RTS pattern or single colour)

 ·      Asymmetrical Spinnakers (21 sizes - 29m2 to 309m2 in RTS pattern or single colour)

 ·      FURLING Asymmetrical Spinnakers (10 sizes - 57m2 to 174m2 in RTS pattern or single colour)

These are premium full radial cut Spinnakers ideally suited to the cruiser who is looking for durability, great value and all-round performance. They come in the famous Rolly Tasker tri-colour pattern of blue and white with a central red star and now also available for purchase in a custom solid colour of your choice. All sails come complete with a large spinnaker bag for convenience.

The symmetric spinnaker is the classic downwind sail and is set on a spinnaker pole. It is best used for wind angles of 100 to 180 degrees. The handling of this sail requires some experience and a good crew. For the ambitious sailor, the classic spinnaker is one of the most rewarding sails.
The asymmetric spinnaker, also known as gennaker, is a good choice for easier handling and good power. This sail is especially versatile and perfect for those yacht-owners who only want to have one downwind sail on board. The asymmetric spinnaker is optimized for wind-angles of 75 to 165 degrees.

TOP QUALITY

All our ready to use sails are top quality products in keeping with Rolly Tasker Sails high standards of sail design and manufacturing specifications. Spinnakers are made in the advanced full radial cut to our demanding offshore standard construction. This means high quality cloth, durable seams, overlapping leech tapes and strong corner patches with more than ample strengthening of high load areas such as head, tack or clews. The colour scheme is standardized in an attractive blue, white and red star design.

PERFECTED DESIGN

The sail designers at Rolly Tasker Sails have created a modern, symmetric spinnaker in full radial cut. For maximum size in relation to leech lengths with a medium profile depth. The elliptical profile gives the sail high stability and makes trimming much easier.
The asymmetric spinnaker also has the advanced radial cut. The profile is of moderate depth to make the sail suitable for all reaching courses. The profile is deeper in the forward part of the sail, than flowing aft in a smooth curve. In this way, the sail can be used for close reaching, without heeling the yacht excessively.

We got a Rolly Tasker MPS made for our Catalina 320 a few weeks back. We are very impressed with the Sail and with the customer service we received. Good to see old fashion quality business is still alive. I know where we buy our next sail
Thank you guys heaps, Cheers

SPINNAKERS

We all know that the large, colourful sails seen on boats sailing downwind are called spinnakers, but few know where the name comes from. One story says the word is derived from the name of the first yacht to use such a sail, the "Sphinx". The sail was so much larger than any other sail previously seen that it became known as "Sphinx's acre", hence the term spinnacre or spinnaker.

Because of the sail's rounded shape and colourful material, most sails have a resemblance to a parachute and therefore are often called a "chute". In Australia, they are also often referred to as a "kite" because of the way they fly out in front of the boat.

Although some older spinnakers are of crosscut construction, most modern spinnakers use radial or tri-radial construction.

Because the spinnaker is only attached to the boat at three corners, all the stress radiates into the sail at these points. With a tri-radial sail, the stress is along the seams instead of across them, making a stronger sail and minimizing stretch and distortion.

We offer a comprehensive range of options for all of our spinnakers including sail numbers, racing box bags and spinnaker socks.

Got to use my new Spinnaker on my trip Mooloolaba to Gladstone and was very happy how easy to put up and down. I was really impressed with its performance we were making 5.4kts in 8kts of breeze.

ASYMMETRICAL SPINNAKERS

ASYMMETRICAL SPINNAKERS

• Commonly referred to as a Gennaker or MPS

• True wind angle range of 75-165 - Very versatile sail

• Perfect for short handed downwind sailing

• Can be used with a spinnaker sock

SYMMETRICAL SPINNAKERS

SYMMETRICAL SPINNAKERS

• True wind angle range of 105-180

• Optimum way for most heavier displacement yachts to sail downwind

• Used with a spinnaker pole on monohulls

• Can be used with a spinnaker sock

SPINNAKER SOCKS

SPINNAKER SOCKS

• A must have for the short handed sailor

• Makes pulling down your spinnaker a one-person operation

• Heavy duty nylon construction with low friction mouth

• Sizes available to suit all spinnaker sizes

• Highly competitive price

Our Rolly Tasker Sails Spinnaker Socks are designed to enhance your enjoyment of sailing by making the lowering of either a Symmetrical or Asymmetrical Spinnaker as fast, easy and safe as it can be. While ideal for the cruising sailor, a Spinnaker Sock is also a must for the short-handed yachtie.

Its features include:

Separate internal rope compartment to avoid tangles (one for the spinnaker and one for the up/downhaul lines);

A coloured full length stripe, so as to check that the sock is not twisted;

A large low friction mouth so that it can be pulled over the shoulders of the spinnaker with ease;

Integrated pulleys for up/down;

Spinnaker attachment strop to suit all spinnakers.

WHAT LENGTH DO I NEED?

We recommend that the sock should be approximately 0.5 metre shorter than the leech on a Symmetrical Spinnaker and approximately the same length as the leech on an Asymmetrical Spinnaker.

On order we can provide you with a full set of instructions to make your spinnaker sailing a breeze! We also have a quick demonstration video availiable on request. Just email us. We are also here to help you with any questions you might have after ordering.
